ASciencePro’s Three Pillars

Education and Experience

Our program’s goal is to awake and fuel a passion for science. Understanding how to ask questions and think about challenging topics is critical for all students entering any career. We provide the opportunity to consider questions and topics through high-level and hands-on educational practices for those students interested in learning about any aspect of brain-related science. Our mission aims to arm students with the skills, knowledge, and professional development to succeed in their university pursuits.

Professional Development

We are deeply invested in the professional development of our students. Navigating the field of science can be overwhelming for students, and yet doing so successfully is critical to their success. Our mission emphasizes intensive mentorship to develop our student’s professional networking skills and career-building tools - supporting them in their transition into future scientific positions.

Promoting Diversity

Diversity in race, gender, interests and background are of critical importance to the success of future scientific pursuits and endeavors. Without diversity, science cannot grow. Unfortunately, the better positions, even at the earliest entry levels to science, are appointed to those who have had the means to gain experience, even as a volunteer in science labs. Our mission is to actively diversify the field of scientific research through programs and scholarships for students who wouldn’t otherwise have the resources required to pursue transformative scientific opportunities.

"Science has been something I have always found interesting, but was never something I realized I was passionate about until I found research. I had very little exposure to, and knowledge of, what scientific research was about. I entered college with a view that since I liked science, my options were to "wear a white coat and study chemicals," or "become a medical doctor." I had no idea what an incredible and rewarding career path awaited me on the other end of high school. Through this program, I hope to help build a new generation of passionate AND prepared scientists by educating them about the brain, how we study the brain in research, and helping my students develop a skillset that will better situate them to actively succeed in this field.
